The initiative was strongly backed by the city’s two leading universities that offer advanced insurance and reinsurance training – Technical University of Applied Sciences (TH Cologne) and the University of Cologne – and Cologne’s Chamber of Commerce. The city’s Lord Mayor Henriette Reker took a very personal interest in pushing this project through.
Cologne has been known as one of the most important and innovative locations for insurance in Germany. The arrival of InsurLab Germany further supports the city’s claim to be the leading Insurance Hub for Germany and at the forefront of the digital revolution in the insurance and reinsurance market.
The future success of the German and international insurance industry will, of course, largely be based on its ability to evolve along with the wider global economy and respond to the fast-changing needs of its personal and commercial customers not least through the adoption of the latest technology fostered within InsurLab.
